Ian Narev is currently the managing director and chief executive officer of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, a position he has held since December 2011. Prior to this role, he was group executive of the bank’s business and private banking unit. From 2007-2009, Narev was group head of strategy, where he was responsible for the bank’s $2 billion acquisition of Bankwest. Before joining CBA, Narev was a partner of McKinsey & Company from 1998-2007, where he served in a variety of consultancy roles at the consulting company’s offices in New York, Sydney and Auckland.
