Kim Choong Soo
Kim assumed his current position in 2010 for a four-year term. A fluent English speaker, Kim emphasises the importance of communication with players outside the central bank. He has pledged not to surprise markets with his policy decisions and has sought exchanges of staff between the Bank of Korea and international organisations. He speaks of a bigger central bank role in stabilising financial markets and calls for global safety nets to help Asia\'s emerging countries avoid again becoming the innocent victims of a global crisis. He served as chief economics adviser to President Lee Myung-bak soon after Lee took office in early 2008.
