Industry Stalwarts

David Conner is currently a non-executive director at OCBC Bank. He recently retired after serving as CEO of the bank from 2002-2012. In his ten-year tenure as CEO at Singapore’s third largest bank, Conner implemented significant changes at OCBC starting in 2002 when the bank was performing sub-par and was a potential acquisition target. Guided by the philosophy to be an “acquirer not an acquiree”, Conner masterfully out-maneuvered major global players such as HSBC to acquire ING Asia, tripling OCBC’s assets to $22.5 billion.

He has also made the banks’ regional subsidiaries more profitable and sustainable in the seven years of leading the bank. Conner is a sharp strategist with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, finance and investor relations.
