Banthoon Lamsam
Lamsam has played a key role in making Kasikornbank, Thailand’s second largest and winner of the The Asian Banker’s Best Retail Bank in Thailand award for 2010, the strong institution that it is today. Not only did this career banker and dynamic leader see his bank through the Asian financial crisis, he also aggressively introduced changes in the years that followed. He brought in foreign consultants to help run the then Thai Farmers Bank, wrote off bad loans, and introduced a "performance culture" for his employees, including a controversial early-retirement plan for 2,000 staff unable to keep up with new technology.
