Tim Bennett started his career as CEO of New Zealand Exchange (NZX) in May 2012. He has more than 20 years consulting experience in financial services and commodity development, mostly in Asia. His area of expertise has been financial markets where he has worked with different exchanges, government and private companies in expanding the domestic capital markets. Bennett’s role focusses on accelerating the development of NZX market, building and maintaining its connectivity to Asia and other exchanges. Bennet was previously a partner in Oliver Wyman’s where he was responsible on building its retail and banking business practice. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Bennett was a partner of Boston Consulting Group in Asia and then Australia branch, where he was a leader of the strategy & financial services practice across Asia. He holds an MBA in strategy and finance from Warton University in Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Commerce in computer science and business administration from Victoria University of Wellington.
