Xu Chen currently heads the Bank of China, United States as its Chief Executive Officer. Chen became general manager of banking and financial institutions at the Bank of China in September 2008 and was appointed non-executive director of the bank's insurance division in December 2009. In a career spanning almost two decades with the bank, he has served in numerous roles. He has been the deputy director of finance, director of the president’s office, deputy general manager of the company business unit, vice president of the London branch and the director of the office for the Beijing Olympics between 1990 and 2008. He also holds a Master of International Business Management from the University of International Business and Economics and is a noted economist.
