Peter Sands has been group chief executive of Standard Chartered since November 2006. Prior to this he was group finance director at Standard Chartered, which he moved up to from his post as group executive director in May 2002. Before joining Standard Chartered, Sands was a director with worldwide consultants McKinsey & Co., since 1988 where he worked extensively in the banking and technology sectors in a wide range of international markets.
